A new bill in Kansas City may reduce the use of motorcyclists wearing helmets. The new legislation could allow those over 21 to not be required to wear a helmet while riding.
The current law in the Missouri area is that all people and passengers that are on a motorcycle must wear a helmet. Recently, motorcycle drivers have told legislators that wearing a helmet can at times be a burden.
One issue is that it can affect with a riders hearing. Another point brought up by advocates for not wearing helmets was that it takes away from the free feeling of riding a bike. According to officials, the bill has been passed through the Senate Transportation Committee, but will now be debated on the Senate floor.
