A victim in last week’s motorcycle crash in Witchita has succumbed to the injuries sustained in the collision. The victim was rushed to the hospital after his motorcycle crashed into a car while he was traveling east on Pawnee.
According to local police officials, the incident occurred Friday just after 2:30 p.m. when the motorcyclist was traveling through a stoplight and collided with a car that had just turned eastbound onto the roadway.
The 81-year-old woman driving the car told police officials that she did not see the motorcycle traveling toward her before she turned. When emergency crews arrived at the scene, it was reported that the motorcyclist was suffering from massive head injuries. On Monday, the 29-year-old motorcyclist was pronounced dead.
Witnesses told police that the motorcyclist may have been traveling at a very fast speed, but the exact cause of the accident has not yet been determined. This is the fourth fatal motorcycle accident that has occurred in the Wichita area this year and 18 traffic fatalities in total have occurred in 2012. At this same point last year, there were seven fatal motorcycle crashes and 22 fatal traffic accidents.
