Senior Day and the SHARE Program Proudly Sponsored by The Pottenger Law Firm
Kansas City, MO (September 24, 2014) – In an effort to support the mission to launch nearly 400 high school seniors into the community to serve on a single morning, while creating life-long community stewards, The Pottenger Law Firm is sponsoring the SHARE Program’s Senior Service Day on October 15.
SHARE is a student-run community-service organization at Shawnee Mission East High School in Prairie Village, Kansas. The organization prides itself on ensuring that each senior has the opportunity to serve within their community at least one time before they graduate by offering a wide variety of service projects that speak to students’ varying gifts and interests. Their community support, mission, and the outcome of the students’ work has made SHARE the largest student-led, school-based, not-for-profit, youth volunteer organization in the country.
“Over the last few years, I have heard and seen what the SHARE organization has done in the community, but only the last year or two, have I become more aware of all the aspects of this group and what they stand for,” said Jason Pottenger, attorney at The Pottenger Law Firm. “I am quite impressed with SHARE and will continue to do whatever I can to be more involved with what they do for the students and our community.”
There are more than eight different service programs that students will be able to volunteer for, including serving at the Kansas City Community Kitchen, working in a local thrift store, and working with senior citizens.
