A Kansas City man was arrested after allegedly stealing a deputy’s personal truck from his home over the weekend.

According to officials, the off-duty deputy realized that his home was broken into and truck was stolen while working in a workshop in his home. He called police officials just before 3 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.

Shortly after the truck was noticed to be missing, it was involved in a hit-and-run crash on Interstate 70. The man who stole the truck allegedly left the damaged truck on the side of the road, and stole another one. The 48-year-old suspect was later arrested in Osbourne County.
