When there are mechanical flaws to a vehicle and the driver doesn’t know, it spells disaster – and serious personal injuries. Unfortunately, recalls happen more often than you’d think, which is why it’s so important to stay up-to-date on the latest vehicle recalls.

  • In 2020 alone, there were 886 vehicle recalls in the United States.
  • A study revealed that 63% of recalled automobiles had at least one unresolved issue in the United States.
  • In 2014, automobile manufacturers recalled a record breaking 64 million vehicles due to safety issues.

Keep reading to find out some of the larger vehicle recalls of 2024 so far.

Subaru

Due to a cracking front driveshaft, which can cause a loss of power or roll away, Subaru is recalling 3,732 vehicles. Below are the affected vehicles.

  • 2024 Subaru Crosstrek
  • 2023 Subaru WRX
  • 2023-2024 Subaru Forester
  • 2024 Subaru Impreza

A sudden loss of power can increase the risk of a rear end collision as well as increasing the risk of the vehicle rolling away. This loss of vehicular control is hazardous, putting the driver and passengers at a high risk of personal injury.

Toyota

Due to battery concerns, Toyota is recalling 1,853,568 vehicles. The affected vehicles are the 2013-2018 Toyota RAV4. Certain 12-volt replacement batteries may not fit in the battery tray correctly. This allows the battery to move around and possibly touch the hold-down bracket, which could cause the vehicle to short-circuit. This defect could also increase the risk of a fire in the vehicle.

Owners of these recalled vehicles should call 1-800-331-4331. Dealers will replace the battery tray, the battery clamp sub-assembly, and the positive terminal cover for free.

Ford

About 187,922 vehicles are being recalled by Ford. The affected vehicles may have a brake fluid level sensor that may fail to alert the driver when the fluid level is low. Lack of sufficient brake fluid can increase the risk of a car accident and subsequent personal injuries. The vehicles under recall are the 2020-2023 Ford Mustang.

Chrysler

Chrysler has 97,066 vehicles under recall because of the possibility that the seat belts in the third row are dysfunctional. A seat belt that doesn’t fasten and buckle properly not only increases the risk of personal injury in an accident, but it raises the likelihood that resulting personal injuries are fatal. The vehicles under recall are the 2022-2024 Jeep Grand Wagoneer and the 2022-2024 Jeep Wagoneer.

Dealers will, free of charge, inspect and replace seat belts as needed. Owners of these vehicles should call Chrysler’s customer service line at 1-800-853-1403.

Mazda

There are 11,903 Mazda vehicles under recall due to a software error that could prevent the front, rearview, and or side camera images from showing up on the display screen. This reduces the driver’s visibility, increasing the risk of an accident when backing up, merging, or changing lanes. The recalled vehicles are the 2024 Mazda CX-9 and the 2024 Mazda Mazda3.

Dealers will update the necessary software for free, and vehicle owners can call Mazda’s customer service line at 1-800-222-5500.

Honda

Honda is recalling 248,999 vehicles because of manufacturing concerns with the rod bearing, which has the potential to cause internal engine wear. Internal engine wear can lead to the engine not starting, functioning improperly, or even stalling while driving, which increases the risk of a car accident, personal injury, and even fires. The recall includes the following vehicles.

  • 2015-2020 Acura TLX Sedans
  • 2016-2020 Acura MDX SUVs
  • 2016 Honda Pilot SUVs
  • 2018-2019 Honda Pilot SUVs
  • 2017 & 2019 Honda Ridgeline Pickup Trucks
  • 2018-2019 Honda Odyssey Minivans

As needed, dealers will inspect, replace, or repair vehicles for free. Owners can contact Honda’s customer service line at 888-234-2138.

Porsche

Porsche is recalling 2,923 vehicles that have been equipped with optional full bucket seats because of an airbag defect. The seat-mounted airbags might deploy needlessly during a collision. Vehicles under recall are the following.

  • 2024 Porsche 911 Carrera T
  • 2023 Porsche 911 GT3 RS
  • 2022-2023 Porsche 911 GT3 Touring
  • 2022 Porsche 911 Turbo
  • 2021-2023 Porsche 911 Turbo S
  • 2022-2023 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS
  • 2022-2024 Porsche 911 Carrera GTS
  • 2024 Porsche 911 Carrera T
  • 2023 Porsche 911 Dakar

Dealers will resolve this issue free of charge, and vehicle owners can contact Porsche’s customer service line at 1-800-767-7243.
